I’ve almost completely filled a notebook full of collages and wanted to get them into a digital format. I started by purchasing an app for my phone but was frustrated with the quality of scans.
I thought…”Is it stupid to buy a scanner in 2020?“. I haven’t used a scanner in probably a decade or more and wondered if buying one now was a silly thing to have in the house.
I bet someone would probably be selling off a scanner they no longer wanted on Facebook market and my first search led me to finding a Epson Perfection 4490 Photo scanner for just $20, located less than 10 miles from me. Turns out this scanner was taken out of the box and never used. When released years ago it cost over $250 and can scan at a very high resolution. Perfect.
I picked it up yesterday and immediately started scanning.
It took me a minute to figure out how to scan items again. Thankfully my wife, a graphic designer, walked me through the process.
It occurred to me that our family will use this scanner a lot. My wife is a graphic designer/art teacher and we have two teenagers interested in graphic design as well. While I’m creating these collages mostly for piece of mind, I enjoy sharing them when complete.
I spent a couple of hours just scanning and scanning after dinner and got about halfway through my notebook. I can’t wait to finish scanning and post more.
