Sony 300 CD Player Repair

I picked up this Sony 300 CD changer at Goodwill awhile ago for $10. I’m waiting on some parts for a receiver so decided to tackle this today. Basically the door wasn’t opening and I thought it was a belt issue but realized someone either dropped something heavy on the top of the unit or possibly dropped the unit itself on its head and bent the metal bar over the door. I was able to remove that part and bend it back in place enough for the door to operate properly again. I know it’s a big goofy CD player but folks still pay $100+ for these on eBay so it was worth figuring out. I actually have another of these to figure out next and hoping that one is as easy as replacing the belts!

Yesterday I finally made time to work on this Sony 300 CD player. The door wouldn’t open properly and, as mentioned in the Instagram caption above, I was able to figure out and repair.

See above video showing the steps taken to repair.

It always feels amazing whenever I get a piece of gear working again!
