Last week I wrote about Dorothy Norwood, but while doing further research this week, I stumbled on her song, There’s Got To Be Rain In Your Life and had to make a note of it here.
The premise of the song is that in order to appreciate when things are going good, you have to experience bad times. In order to appreciate the sun, you have to suffer through the rain.
The section of the song that jumped out the most was:
When trouble comes, That’s rain
When you’re sad, Rain
When the tears are falling down, That’s rain
When death come calling, It ain’t nothing but rain
This song was a good reminder that tough times are part of life and unfortunately working through them is what allow us to appreciate the sunshine.
The chorus says it best:
It’s got to be rain in your life
To appreciate the sunshine
It’s got to be rain in your life
To appreciate the sunshine
Not an easy thing to hear when you’re in the middle of hard times, but it’s a potential ray of hope for when we inevitably will.
