I purchased several gospel LPs last week while shopping on Black Friday.
One of my favorites is the below LP by Professor Harold Boggs and the Boggs Specials called That’s Where It’s At.
The track that stuck out most is number four on side A, God’s L.S.D. I had not reviewed the track list before playing so when this song came on I couldn’t help but notice the lyrics in the chorus, “I’m living on God’s L.S.D.”…huh?
Turns out the L.S.D. referenced by Prof. Boggs stands for:
- Love
- Salvation
- Deliverance
This explains Prof. Boggs’ stance throughout the song that everyone needs God’s L.S.D..
Boggs spent most of his life blind, losing his sight to glaucoma. For an in-depth article about his life, check out the Journal of Gospel Music’s article.
