Below are two new releases I’m enjoying this week:
R+R=Now – Collagically Speaking
This is a jazz “supergroup” put together by pianist Robert Glasper featuring Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah on trumpet, Derrick Hodge on bass, Taylor McFerrin on synth, Justin Tyson on drums and Terrace Martin on synth and vocoder.
I’m a fan of Glasper and Martin so this popped up in my suggested music feed via Spotify.
Recommended for jazz fans, especially those who prefer acts like Thundercat, Flying Lotus, Kamasi Washington and even Kendrick’s Butterfly LP.
It may take a few listens to get accustomed to Martin’s singing through the vocoder, but eventually it all comes together for an enjoyable listen.

Flasher – Constant Image
I first discovered Flasher in 2016 when they released their debut self titled EP. Located in Washington, D.C., the band represents all I love about the historical Dischord music scene with a loose, jangly punk sound ala Q And Not U, Lungfish, etc. The song, Erase Myself from their EP has been a live DJ staple of mine for the past few months.
The band released a new LP, Constant Image, that picks up right where the EP left off. Released by Domino, the LP was pressed using the beautiful bright color scheme below.
