My LP copy of Yo La Tengo’s We Have Amnesia Sometimes arrived today. I purchased this last year during a Bandcamp Friday and forgot about it since COVID has pushed many vinyl orders back.
I saw Yo La Tengo perform in Los Angeles in 2000 along with Lambchop at the El Rey Theatre. It was a wonderful show that has kept me a forever fan, buying up whatever I can, whenever possible.
YLT were one of the first bands to push my listening tastes further outside of the “alternative” genre as well as the punk rock sounds of bands like Fugazi, Sonic Youth, etc. They brought something different to the table, at times play catchy in your face rock songs and other times a quiet sing along jam that stuck in your head for days.
This release is them rehearsing at their practice space, with one microphone set up to catch the results. I love it.
Order a copy if you’re a YLT fan.
