I’m not a music supervisor, but if I was, I would try to find a place in a movie for this song.
Released in 1958 on J&S Records, this is the B-Side for Johnnie & Joe, an R&B duo who had a few hits to their name before this release.
I found a copy of this 45 in a bin of records at a tent sale outside my local antique store. I always enjoy picking up odd looking 45s with labels or artists that I do not recognize. You never know what you might hear!
This song, You’re In Love With Someone Else, has an upbeat salsa flavored soul vibe to it that immediately implants the song into your brain where it’s hard to shake loose. The song was written by Johnnie Richardson herself, even though it’s credited on the label as “Lucky Richardson”.
I imagine hearing a song like this in an indie film or even a Wes Anderson movie, don’t you?
I couldn’t find a copy of the song online so I uploaded this version taken directly from the 45 I found.
Enjoy!
