I couldn’t sleep on Monday evening and was scrolling through Facebook market and saw someone selling seven records for $30. What caught my eye was a copy of George Michael’s Faith LP that looked super clean. I have a strange sentimental attachment to Faith and figured why not, the seller lives a few miles from me and I could sell the other six records to pay for the George Michael LP.
When I reached out, I mentioned I would be interested in buying more records if any were available and the seller sent me to an eBay site where his wife has been posting other records.
I saw a Hootie & The Blowfish red Cracked Rear View LP on the eBay site and offered to add it to my pile for $50 for all 8 records. His wife countered at $55 and I took it.
I was telling my friend at work about the purchase and he noticed there were two pressings of the red vinyl, one in 1995 and the other in 2019. I assumed this was the 2019 version but when I got it home I realized I actually bought the 1995 original pressing which sells for $100+ easily. Score.
Even better, the seller told me his wife has 4,000 albums that she’s sorting through and selling. I gave him my phone number and told him to text me before she lists online and I’ll most likely buy. Her albums are in excellent shape and look like they’ve hardly been played.
Here’s hoping they text me with more albums to buy!
