I did a lot of record shopping over the holidays and whenever we travel, I always try to hit up thrift stores to see if they have a better selection than I find when shopping at home.
This trip I found a lot of great records in thrift stores but this was by far my favorite, the Talking Heads’ More Songs About Buildings and Food, released on Sire in 1978.
I found this wabi-sabi copy in a thrift store for just $3 while visiting family in Alabama. I stopped by the store on a whim and couldn’t see any records so I asked the store owner who moved several pieces of junk to reveal a shelf of records. I was excited to find this copy and sure, the jacket is beat up, but the record itself plays fine. I’m keeping for my collection.
Funny, according to Wikipedia, the cover is made up of over 500 Polaroid photos by Jimmy De Sana. I also took some Polaroid photos this holiday. Here are two of my boys:
