My wife and kids are on fall break from school this week and I decided to take the week off from work as well. Our kids are on a birthday trip with their grandmother and cousin this week leaving my wife and I home alone.
Due to us paying better attention to our finances (aka paying off debt) we decided to just stay home this week and tackle a few things on our to do list that have piled up for two parents who work full time.
A funny thing has happened though…we’ve started measuring our days by what we accomplished on our staycation and less about what we can do to relax. It’s as if our brains won’t let us slow down and keeps reminding us of projects we should do instead.
The reality is we do have one or two big items to tackle and most are now done. We should feel like we have accomplished all we need to and everything else we get done is gravy. I joked this morning that had we gone to the beach, we’d be lying around all day, not worrying about small jobs to tackle around the house. Maybe we should treat our staycation like we’re at the beach!
