So, today I turn 40 years old.
Much of your 39th year on this planet is spent answering the annoying question, “Are you bothered about turning 40?”
My answer is no and I found a couple of quotes about turning 40 to support my answer:
I’m not dead yet. I think I’ll go for a walk. – a filthy peasant in Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Life really does begin at forty. Up until then, you are just doing research. – Carl G. Jung
And this one…
Just remember, once you’re over the hill you begin to pick up speed. – Charles M. Schultz
I really like the Charles Schultz quote and was surprised I had never encountered it before.
Oh, by the way, here is a list of people who found most of their “success” after 40:
- Samuel L Jackson
- Alan Rickman
- Martha Stewart
- Stan Lee
- Rodney Dangerfield
- Betty White
- Julia Child
There is only one quote I want to avoid from the legendary Bob Hope:
Middle age is when your age starts to show around your middle – Bob Hope
If I can avoid the middle growing along with my age, I’ll be happy.
